5 luxury lodges in Australia that you need to add to your bucket list

With travel not looking possible thanks to Corona Virus, there is no better time to explore Australia if you live there or start saving up for a trip to visit when the world returns to normal. Hopefully, you have saved some money from all the lockdowns that you can treat yourself to one of these unforgettable luxury lodges that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Lizard Island, Queensland

This small lodge located on a tiny island on the Great Barrier Reef has only 40 rooms, each of them resembling a bungalow. They are so close to the water that you can fall asleep to the sound of the lapping ocean a few moments away. To get to the island you are transported in a small plane and treated to an incredibly beautiful scenic flight over the barrier reef. Once there you are treated with impeccable service and amazing food, much of which is caught from the surrounding waters.

Longitude 131°, Northern Territory

The sacred indigenous site Uluru, which is also the world’s biggest free-standing rock, is a must-add item for everyone’s bucket list. Longitude 131° and the luxury tented rooms at all come with a balcony that you can sleep on while watching the blanket of stars in the sky each night. There is also a central, communal tent called Dune House which is where you can sit back, relax and enjoy modern Australian food in the outback. They also offer daily tours of the surrounding indigenous sites where you can learn more about the world’s oldest living culture.

Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley, New South Wales

Does taking a plunge into your private, heated pool while admiring the view of a stunning mountain range with kangaroos hopping by your window sound up your alley? Well, Wolgan Valley is for you. Aside from the lap of luxury that you’ll enjoy, you will also be spoilt with silence, endless space and some of the most beautiful Australian outback scenery. The meals and booze are included in the price, so you can spend all day eating, drinking, swimming in the pools, riding bikes or horses and enjoying spa treatments. Capella, Lord Howe Island

If heaven exists on earth, then it is definitely Lord Howe Island. It is a lesser-known gem a short flight from Sydney and Brisbane with pristine water, lush green mountains, a rule that limits the number of tourists. A Capella is the luxury option on the island, it has a plunge pool with views looking across to Mount Gower and a restaurant serving the freshest seafood I’ve ever had, which is often caught that day. You can get massages, drink champagne in the spa, borrow their golf buggy to explore the island and even ask the staff to set up a picnic in a location on the island of your choice. You can find a more detailed review here.

Jonah’s, Whale Beach

This place is only a short distance from Sydney making it the perfect weekend getaway if you’re living in Sydney or visiting. The rooms are nice, especially the ones where you get views of the ocean, but the real reason to go to Jonah’s is the restaurant. It has sweeping views of the ocean and its the perfect places to watch the annual migration of whale in the colder months. It also has one of the most awarded wine lists in the country.
