The best outdoor dining spots in Helsinki
Helsinki comes alive during the brief but beautiful summer season when many restaurants build terraces on the footpaths to soak up those summer rays while they can. Here are some of my favourites:
Löyly Terrace
This was once voted one of the top 100 destinations of the year by TIME magazine. It is mostly known for the saunas, but the restaurant is great, especially in the summer, so you can sit with a spritz by the sea.
📍Hernesaarenranta 4, 00150 Helsinki
Skiffer
Going to Skiffer by boat in Eira is one of my favourite summer activities. The flat, crunchy pizza bases are also very uniquely Nordic and worth a try.
📍Liuskaluoto, 00140 Helsinki
The Kiosks
Cute little outdoor spots around town, inside the kiosks that were made for the Olympics back in the day. They change annually, but my favourite this year is the Italian wine bar Brera and the frozen yoghurt kiosk, Jugge.
📍Various locations across Helsinki
The Fat Lizard Töölö
Töölönlahti is probably my favourite place in Helsinki, and I am so glad there is a place to eat right next to it now. Try the Fahrenheit 451 pizza if you’re feeling brave and want to test how much spice your taste buds can handle. It is a great kid-friendly option, too!
📍Topeliuksenkatu 8, 00250 Helsinki
Birgitta
Right on the waterfront and perfect for a post-dip meal or people watching. Grab a burger and watch the world go by but be cautious of the seagulls - they are ruthless!
📍Ehrenströmintie 3 A, 00140 Helsinki
What restaurants, bars or cafes would you add to this list?
